DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE?
ReplyDelete- "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." (Proverb 9:10)
After I reread the above passage, I found Albert's way of praying for "wisdom" very easy to understand. It is indirectly referring to prayers to know God better and to fear Him. If such is the case, how can our prayers for wisdom (just like King Solomon's) not be answered?
- Mimi's abstinence from shopping during period of Lent is actually a sign of disciplinary offering to the Lord. To pray for a "distaste" in a change of habits or lifestyle is like "deliver me from evil" in the Lord's prayer.
- Whereas some of us had no desire to share until called upon, both Mimi and Loretta could hardly wait for their turn to share. To them, it must be like ......the Lord had done great things in my life, I felt the need to "pass it on".
-Jane had no intention to share but opened up in the end; much like the parable of the son who refused to work in the vineyard but ended up going any ways. Raymond Lau was very quiet the whole evening. Not to be mistaken as inattentiveness, I found his last suggestion about dining out at Christmas most considerate and well thought out.
- When Peter looked back at the calendar, he recalled many moments that he needed to give thanks for. So often do we not take blessings for granted? When can we learn to "give thanks in ALL circumstances"?
- Moniza's testimony about her spiritual growth based strongly on the well learnt lesson of submission to the Lord, after years of struggle. Because of her transformation, others see Christ in her life, without verbal preaching of any form.
- "With God, all things are possible". Despite circumstantial signs not in the favour of Herbert to attend baptism classes, the Holy Spirit worked in Him in a timely manner to accept Christ and coming to Him for His precious gift of Salvation.
- The way the Lord touched Jane's life throughout the years will always be a reminder for me that "My (God's) grace is sufficient for thee." (II Cor 12:9)
- I am very sure that Walter's faithfulness in serving SMSL despite many have left will be blessed one day as "the terebinth and oak leave stumps when they are cut down, so the holy seed will be the stump in the land." and "Those who are left in Zion, who remain in Jerusalem, will be called Holy,...."

WISDOM
ReplyDeleteChoose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold,
for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
I, wisdom dwell together with prudence; I possess knowlege and discretion.
Proverbs 8:10-13
This week, I have learnt another way to pray. Humbly seek God about my problems/issues/circumstances/worries....
ReplyDeletethen pray..
"Will you show me how to deal with them?"
A - Ask and it will bw given.
S - Seek and you will find.
K - Knock and it will be opened to you.
What is your "ASK" this week?

Another form of Prayer...
ReplyDeleteEver since I learnt to pray as a child, I was taught to pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. As I grew older, I also prayed to our heavenly Father so that His Will be done. However, it was not until last week that I started praying to the Holy Spirit in times of needs.
All this came about when I studied Isaiah 11: 2
"The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him (Jesus)-
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of power,
the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord..."
Together with the OT reference to strength, leadership and creative skills, I marvelled at the work of the Holy Spirit which basically covered every situation and problem area in my physical, emotional and Spiritual growth.
What more can I ask?
Come Spirit come .....
Help me!! Teach me!! Sustain me!! Lead me!! Bath me!!
