CBS-Monday Sharing Bloc on Genesis 22

The Monday Chinese Bible study group (CBS-Monday) has been studying Genesis 22, how Abraham was tested for His faith.
The following are the members' personal favourite Bible verse in times of trials and temptations, to encourage and to strengthen each other's Faith in difficult times....

From Eva....

From Winnie....

From Roy....

From Rita....

From May

From Francis
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.  Psalm 121:2

Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.
"But if it were I, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him. He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted...."
Job 5:7-9

From Celine...Psalm 55:22
"Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved."
(I like the key word  "sustain"; we must truly learn to let go of our burden and worries, then God will take them from us, give us strenghth and keep us from falling.)

Jeremiah 33:3
"Call to me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and hidden things which you have not known."
(If we need help, try adjusting our antennae and tune in to God's wave length. Believe me, it has worked for me during the crisis that I encountered  in Paris.)

Mark 11:24
"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."
(Notice the word "receive" is in present perfect tense)

From Stella

Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

From Raymond and Karina
Raymon and I have each picked out our own favourite bible verses:
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 1:3-7 ( title: THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT)
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.
The above verses remind me running to the Father no matter what, He loves us and forgives us no matter what.
karina
From Irene.... (whose birthday is 29/11)

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
- Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

From Albert....
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9

From Jane...
This is the very first Bible verse that I learnt to memorize in Sunday School at age three.  I had no idea that it is identical to Albert's, with the exception that I learnt it in Chinese back then.  I have applied it to many, many moments of needs, even as a young child.

Let's share .....

"I think they should have looked into this a bit more and made more plans to deal with a bit of snow."
A commuter expressed his feelings to Vancouver Sun; after the snow and ice build up causing Canada Line failure over the freezing cold weather the past few days.

The first thing that came into my mind was the parable of the ten virgins (Matthew 25) awaiting the arrival of the groom; some ready with oil in their lamps and others caught by surprise.

How prepared are you for life's little/mega surprises?
How did you handle the last one?
Who did you seek help from?
What have you learnt from the experience?

Last but not least, how do we prepare ourselves for eternity?
How certain/ready are we about entry into God's Kingdom after our life on earth has come to an end?
