"Time" .... by tic toc

"Time" Submitted by tic toc

"God wants not our money  (because He has plenty)
not our talents (because He gave them to us)
only our time."  (I was told)

How do we organize (God's) time?
- Is our time unblessed, unproductive or unrecognized by God?
- Other than this lawsuit, what have we accomplished? What have we to show forth?
- Is our time spent building that vibrant relationship with the Almighty, or simply busy fruitlessness?
- Is this time "our" right time?
- Are we growing through this experience, according to God's time table?
- Are we rushing ourselves ahead of God into our own decisions?

I am very touched by "The Leadership of St. John's".

- There was no mention of names or titles so that no one can claim glory but God's unmistaken signature was definitely present.
- Their leaders have spent valuable time in discerning God's Will before the court decision and have made definite plans to vacate, ready any time.
- With great sensitivity to any slight change in God's time table, they shepherded and discipled fellow Parishioners to obey leadership's decision, with or without a vestry meeting.
- They nurtured prayer ministry all through the year, not just at the final moments.
- Last but not least, they utilize wisely their God given resources, putting them into good use to buy "time", in God's time.

seconds... minutes... hours... days... weeks... months... years... decades... centuries...

 captured moments .... memories .... history .... generations .... everlasting .... eternity ....

Now is the time ... The time is now ... The end is near ... Time ... It's now or never ?????

"Yet no one seized him (Jesus), because his time had not yet come."  (John8:20)

May the Lord grant us wisdom to re-think His time line for SMSL, in His Time!!!!

Yes, we have won submitted by Joyful

Yes, we have won

“Church isn’t where you meet. Church isn’t a building. Church is what you do. Church is who you are. Church is the human outworking of the person of Jesus Christ. Let’s be the Church.” …….Bridget Willard

Let us ask ourselves the following questions:

What is the most valuable things in our Church?
Is it the pews? The grand piano? Our SMSL history? Our nice parking? Our SMSL name? Our pride? Our friends? Our place to meet? Our Church building? Our people?

What has God want us to show the world in this court case?
The building? Our parking lot? Our Pastor? Our witness?

What has God not wish the Dioceses to destroy?
Our friendship? Our building? Our faith? Our Trustees?

What will God given us to keep if we walk away today?
Our building? Our SMSL library? Our SMSL family? Our friends? Our Anglican Tradition?

If you have answered the above four questions with the last supplied answers then you can see that as an outcome of this court case, God has granted us our people, our witness, our trustees and our Anglican tradition.

So, did we loose the court case?
Yes and No.

Yes – we lost the court case in the eyes of the press, the legal system in Canada and according to the Dioceses.

No – we have won the court case if we realize that God wish the outcome that we should have the people all together, that we had our witness, we get to keep our Trustees and Pastor and also that we get to keep our Anglican faith.

I see that God has already awarded the best to us. We therefore should take the next step humbly and with our heads held high. We should celebrate because we have been set free and not to fight for something of the past, something God do not wish us to have at this moment and which the court has not awarded to us.

I am sure God will reward us with the things we have ‘lost’ when we walk with Him down the road.

The End is Near Submitted by Jane

The End Is Near....

"Please come, this might be our last Christmas celebration at SMSL."
"My friend is at the final stage of cancer, his family is treasuring every single minute with him."
"After 911, there were recollections of final messages of love on family's cells."
"Our family will be moving to New York next week and we look forward to having you over for dinner one last time."

Isn't it common the way we react by changing our value system every time we noticed the slightest implication of something coming to an end?  All our tangible assets which we treasured greatly our entire life suddenly made room for the intangible ones, especially love and sentiments.  Almost immediately it became our top priority to ensure that every single minute counts from that moment on.

Jesus Christ Himself was not exempted from the emotional "torments" when His life and ministry on earth came close to an end.  However, He chose to respond very differently ...

- He arranged a place to dine with the disciples, satisfying first their physical needs.
- He took on the most humbling work of washing the disciples' feet.
- He celebrated Eucharist with the twelve, asking them to "do this in remembrance of me".
- He gently reminded them not to be troubled but to trust God and Him. (John 14:1)
- He promised them the Holy Spirit.  (John 14:25)
- He taught by example the importance of earnest prayers in crisis.
- He prayed according to God's Will.
- He chose to suffer and die, to complete God's plan of Salvation.

And the results?  A wonderful new beginning of the first "church" of Christ as:

- Just a handful of faithful disciples and followers
- Gathered together in the upper room
- Received the Holy Spirit as promised
- Devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship
- to the breaking of bread and to prayer
- with glad and sincere hearts
- The Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.   (Acts 2:47)

Has it ever occurred to you that if Jesus had not planned the last supper on His last day with the teachings above, there might NOT be a new beginning for His followers?

As we are faced with decisions about the court case, uncertainty about the future of SMSL, I myself found great comfort this week as I draw on one of God's promises emphasized three times in book of Revelation.

"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End." (Rev 1:8, 21:6, 22:13)

With that in mind, I can vividly envision myself taking the first step of Faith in crossing the Red Sea, allowing God to unfold before me an exciting new beginning and at the same time swept away my past.

"The beginning?", "The End?", "An end to a beginning?" or "The beginning of an end?" does not matter any more. Clearly God will disassemble to allow for a new way to reassemble.  Therefore I look forward with great joy the new heaven on earth, a new place to worship (some upper room), a new way to worship (not confined to any setting), a new desire to serve (with humility), a new devotion to Jesus' teaching, to fellowship, to breaking of bread and to prayers. A renewed joy from the Spirit and last but not least, the blessing of new "saved" souls to this body of Christ.

" .....the old has gone, the new has come!"    (2 Cor 5:17)

Praise Him !!!!!

In Christ,

jane
