Seeing is Believing ...............
Seeing is Believing….
Many years ago, I advertised in one of my business flyers for Christmas products using this headline, which successfully attracted many customers to visit our booth (at the gift shows) and placed orders for our new arrivals. I guess when people see what they like or like what they see, it is far more convincing; like a picture which is worth more than a thousand words.
What about Faith?
I read about the Israelites this morning (below); I recognized the same kind of faith ….”Seeing to believing.”
The waters covered their adversaries; not one of them survived.
Then they believed his promises and sang his praise. (Psalm 106:11-12)
Similar to the case of doubting Thomas (who needed to see Jesus’ hands to believe in His resurrection), so many times in my life have I prayed/looked for miracles without trusting in His Faithfulness… walking by sight and not by Faith.
Praise the Lord……
After learning about my prayer partner’s faith in thanksgiving (when diagnosed with cancer) and Francis’ encouraging e-mail (to Michael’s ill health) pointed me to a greater Faith …. Believing without seeing!!
Comparable to the Spiritual giants in the Bible: When Abraham offered his son Isaac on the alter without hesitation, when Noah spent 100 years building the ark in the middle of dry land, when Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt for 40 years, when virgin Mary accepted the conception of Jesus Christ….
“… blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29)
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
(Hebrews 11:6)
“…For we live by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7)
