"Do you truly love me more than these?"  (John 21:15)

Imagine Jesus asking you the very same question, what would your answer be?  Would it be different from 5 years ago?  20 years ago?

This answer has never been easy for me.  Before I truly accepted Christ, I think my answer was:
- to give up sleeping in on Sundays to attend church.
- to find time to study His words daily.
- to serve in church.
- to bring my children up according to Bible teachings.
- to ensure my spouse is baptized before marriage.

As I mature in the Spirit, "these" took on another form beginning with "my":
- my family.
- my children.
- my career.
- my friends.
- my passion.
- my money.
- my goals.

Finally, I learnt that the hardest challenge includes:
- my pride.
- my unforegiveness.
- my hidden agenda.
- my self centeredness.
- my expectation of others.

On the other hand, how does Jesus love me?
- laid down His life on the cross for me.
- forgive my sins.
- open up the Way to my Father.
- indwelt of the Holy Spirit as promised.
- walk with me every waking moment of my life.
- befriend to me under all circumstances.
- grant me eternal life.

This morning I read what the Lord desires of us; to love Him PERSONALLY and PASSIONATELY.  Think closely on those two words.  How do you score?  How has that made a difference to your life before you met Him and after?  Do you truly love Him more than .............?

by "one of His lovers".
