It makes me think of the author himself of 'The Wounded Healer', Henri Nouwen, and from the book: "when the imitation of Christ does not mean to live a life like Christ, but to live your life as authentically as Christ lived his, then there are many ways and forms in which a man can be a Christian."
He also wrote in his other book 'The Way of the Heart: Desert Spirituality and Contemporary Ministry': "We enter into solitude first of all to meet our Lord and to be with Him and Him alone. Only in the context of grace can we face our sin; only in the place of healing do we dare to show our wounds; only with a single-minded attention to Christ can we give up our clinging fears and face our own true nature. Solitude is a place where Christ remodels us in his own image and frees us from the victimizing compulsions of the world." Irene
1. Isaiah 53:5 (NIV) But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5 (Good News Translation) But because of our sins he was wounded, beaten because of the evil we did. We are healed by the punishment he suffered, made whole by the blows he received.
Jesus Himself was the wounded healer, bearing all our sins by His wounds so that we can be healed.
2. 2 Corinthians 1:4 (NIV)
(Jesus), who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
Jesus also calls all His followers to become wounded healers so that our suffering or wounds can become blessing to others, giving Glory to our Lord.
I praise the Lord for my wounds, which took a long time for Him to heal. Afterwards, I can see our calling to help others in need. As long as I am willing, He will heal through my wounds.

I look at it this way....
ReplyDelete"With the help of God, I can"
Two Bible passages came to mind:
ReplyDelete1. Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5 (Good News Translation)
But because of our sins he was wounded,
beaten because of the evil we did.
We are healed by the punishment he suffered,
made whole by the blows he received.

I would like to paraphrase…
ReplyDeleteWhen I am willing…
to accept the call to become a (wounded) healer,
God will act!
The question is: Are you willing?
